The development of the many projects that will be featured in the portfolio will be funded by the investment management firm CIP through its Flagship Funds. With the funding, Amberside will try to forward the initiatives.

While preserving economic opportunities at the local and regional levels, the projects will improve the UK’s chances of achieving net zero emissions. This will be accomplished by working closely with regional communities on the projects and making sure ESG standards are satisfied.

The collaboration is comparable to a previously disclosed strategic agreement with Alcemi, which was formed in March 2022 and saw the two businesses agree to work together on the design, buildout, and management of a 4GW portfolio of UK energy storage assets.

The projects at the time were between 300MW and 500MW apiece, in late development, and had a storage capacity of up to four hours. According to the two firms at the time, this made them some of the biggest energy storage projects in Europe.

Radu Gruescu, partner at CIP, said, “We look forward to a fruitful relationship with Amberside Energy for the creation of a substantial pipeline of clean-energy projects that will assist speed the UK’s energy transition to net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

“UK solar and battery storage have recently experienced a rise in price competition and are currently among the most cost-effective technologies, helping to improve grid flexibility, resilience, and overall supply security. We are eager to collaborate closely with AE’s highly skilled staff to execute projects that create investment, jobs, and socioeconomic benefits in addition to clean power at affordable costs.

Utility-scale solar and energy storage projects are created, developed, and managed by Amberside. The company claims to have managed more than 2,000 systems and over 1GW of projects.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with CiP. According to Marc Scambler, co-founder and CEO of Amberside Energy, “together, we will be able to scale up the acceleration of the UK’s energy transformation.

“Our origination and development efforts are well under way, and our unique grid concept, in conjunction with our experience auditing and asset managing such schemes, helps maximise the efficiency of the development process.

“We expect our first projects to be ready to start building in the next two years and to bring major advantages to the communities who host them as well as generating sustainable green power for many years ahead.”
